Early Childhood Music Classes
Music ignites all areas of child development and skills for school readiness, including intellectual, social-emotional, motor, language, and overall literacy. It helps the body and the mind work together. Exposing children to music during early development helps them learn the sounds and meanings of words and improves focus and memory. Fundamental math skills and pattern recognition abilities are enhanced. According to a Stanford University study, music not only helps learning abilities (including language and reasoning), but increases focus and attention.
Lessons and group musical activities improve discipline and the ability to work with others. As skills grow, confidence and self-esteem are elevated as well. Learning how to play an instrument involves improving hand-to-eye coordination, ear-to-hand coordination, and the fine motor skills. Voice lessons improve language skills, presence, and confidence in communicating with others. Exposure to various musical styles and music from around the world helps the child develop appreciation for and curiosity about the world around them.
And, it’s fun!
Bel Canto Music Academy offers a wide range of class schedules and sizes to focus on the musical success of your child. We accept students of all ages and offer a variety of musical instruments and styles.

Young Musicians is our program for children aged 6 to 10 years who are ready for more focused skills. They will learn to be more proficient in various musical styles, movement, and simple instruments (drums, triangle, etc.) and vocals. This program will prepare your child to take their musical talents to the next level and prepare them to find their individual musical passion and means of self-expression.
Bel Canto Voices
“The fact that children can make beautiful music is less significant than the fact that music can make beautiful children.” — Cheryl Lavender, Music Educator, Composer, and Author
In a 2009 survey by Chorus America, parents of children who sang in a choir reported higher academic performance and enhanced social development. Educators who participated in the same survey observed that children who sing are better participants in group activities, have better emotional expression, and exhibit better emotional management.
Bel Canto Academy’s Children’s Choir enrollment will be on a quarterly basis to prepare for a performance. These young singers will learn essential healthy techniques for performing such as proper breathing, appropriate posture, vocal agility, and voice projection. Performance programs will include a range of songs from various musical genres, including classical, musical theatre, and pop hits. It is our belief that sharing music through performance is a great not only for the children but also for the parents and loved ones who experience the childrens’ talents and growth.

Bel Canto Academy Chamber Music Program
Bel Canto Chamber music program consists of a small groups of students on a variety of instruments playing together. Students strengthen their musical abilities, including sight reading and listening skills. Confidence, discipline, and ability to work with others is enhanced. They are encouraged by their peers and also feel a sense of responsibility to practice their parts and play as well as they can.
Young musicians who play chamber music learn about harmonic structure and how their part fits into a whole. There is a sense of pride in putting together a complete work with others, and close bonds are formed.
Chamber group assignments are based on individual skill and experience level and each group is coached by a member of our faculty. Regular performances are part of the curriculum at no additional cost.
